Can someone else drive the vehicle?

Accepted Answer

The vehicle may only be driven by the lessee or additional lessee who signed the rental agreement, or by another qualified, licensed driver who is twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

What can't the vehicle be used for?

Accepted Answer

The vehicle may not be used in violation of any law; by any person under the influence of intoxicants, narcotics or drugs; for the transportation of persons or property for hire; in any race, test or competitive event; outside of Belize without our prior written consent; by any person under 21 years of age; or to push or tow any vehicle without prior written consent. Installing any trailer hitch without written consent is also prohibited.

What happens if I have an accident?

Immediately report any accident to the police with jurisdiction at the place of the accident and to Cayo Auto Rentals. Deliver to us every notice or paper of any kind received relating to any claim or proceeding connected with the accident, and cooperate fully with us and our insurer in investigating and defending it.

Question 4

Do I get insurance?

Accepted Answer

We provide automobile third-party standard insurance with limits of liability from the insurance company. Insurance does not cover passengers or minor damage to the vehicle. Damage not covered under third-party standard insurance is the responsibility of the lessee. With full coverage insurance, the lessee is only responsible for BZ$2,000.

Question 5

What happens if the vehicle is stolen?

Accepted Answer

Your liability for theft of the vehicle is limited to BZ$5,000 provided you return the keys to us. Failure or inability to return the keys makes you liable for replacement of the vehicle.

Question 6

What am I responsible for?

Accepted Answer

The lessee is responsible for blowouts, flat tires, damage to tires, wheels or rims, broken glass, interior damage such as burns, rips, tears or stains to upholstery and carpet, and missing items such as floor mats, spare tires, jacks and hub caps.
